| Coyotes Bar.
Paseo Maritimo,Los Boliches
Fuengirola
When the Croller family took over the Coyote Bar on the seafront in Los Boliches, they had everything againsts them. Although the bar was perfect for their requirements, the bar had been run down and closed for a long time. It has a unique, below ground location and is a very large place. However, hard work and determination has proved a success - the bar has been turned round and is now a popular meeting place.
Their story
Sam and Pam Croller first looked at moving to France but couldn't see themselves running a business there so along with their family, they decided to look for a business in Spain and the Costa del Sol seemed to be the best option.
Hailing from the Blackpool area, since taking over their new bar in November, they have found life in Spain to be very different and exactly as they expected.
It was the children that first inspired Pam and Sam to buy in Spain, more than two years ago. Fed up with their mundane jobs, 'if you buy something we can all do up, we might come with you', they said; and that's exactly what they did.
Coyotes Bar on the Paseo Maritimo in Los Boliches was very run down and had been closed for several months. It was a real challenge but within a month they had it up and running. Leanne (21), Simon (20) and Lauren (18) soon adjusted to the new lifestyle but Sam struggled at first. He had been fitting kitchens for many years and was used to working to his own schedule. Now, in the bar he was committed to very long hours, often with little trade and having to cope with the language and culture differences. Pam arrived a few weeks later after tying up loose ends in England.
'My first job was to organise a rota system as we were all working long hours together,' said Pam, 'now we all get time off so it's a little easier'.
The Crollers certainly seem to be enjoying working the new bar and have organised entertainment several nights a week as well as a snack food menu coming soon. The fact that none of them had any previous experience doesn't seem to have hindered them and they are coping well.
'It is hard to adjust though', says Sam, 'we have no regrets but it is difficult living on top of each other 24 hours a day'.
