The Waikiki Bar is located in the residential square at Los Porches and offers a great place to take the family for a meal or a pleasant drink.

Chris and Dawn Burns took over the bar in August 2004 and are doing very well.

Their story
Chris and Dawn come from Warwick. Chris was a retail manager and Dawn was an Admin Assistant for Calor Gas. They had done these jobs for many years. They had been thinking about moving to Spain for about five months when they finally made the move. They began their search for a bar in April when they came over to meet Sandra and Steve at Fiesta Property. [Unfortunately we were away getting married in the Dominican Republic so we missed them.]

They kept in touch by email and made a return visit in August. We showed them round and viewed many bars. Eventually they chose the Waikiki and moved in 30 days later.

Chris and Dawn say that their move was prompted by the house market in the UK, which gave them unexpected equity from their house sale which they wanted to invest in a new business and the fact that all their children had eventually grown up and got married.

When asked about the buying process with Fiesta Property, they had this to say;
'We thought it would be more difficult. The process seemed daunting at first but we were given the right advice and the right support. Steve and Sandra were with us all the way and covered everything.'

Chris and dawn are providing quality food at the bar and welcome families. Its bright decor and sunny terrace give it a great family atmosphere.

'We have got on great with all the suppliers,' says Dawn, 'language wasn't a problem as they all speak English.' Dawn was also surprised to learn that deliveries are made to the bar the same day as you order goods and you can order as little as one bottle of spirits.

'The only problem we had', says Chris, 'is the currency conversion - we were unfortunate to obtain a lower rate than we could have, had our money been transfered a day earlier.'

Both Chris and Dawn have settled in well and are enjoying meeting people. In just a few weeks they have made many friends.

'We have no regrets at all', says Dawn.
